night. The
word night
is replaced
with knight
humorously to
further emphasize
a long standing aircraft
pilots fun
pun of
“fly by
night” which
is in
reference to
an aviator
that engages
into some
what shady
aeronautical business
practices. Pilots
teasing an
old friend may
“razz” them
saying “hey
you old FLY
BY KNIGHT”
ect as
a Royal
friend when
greeting another
aviator, all
in fun.
“FLY BY
KNIGHT” also
alludes to another matter, as a
TRIBUTE when military pilots fly
over a political ceremony, town parade, football game when the
National Anthem is played, ect –and-- in the “MISSING MAN”
formation at the farewell of a lost soul be they statesman, official or
military person, in the so called “FLY
BY” by the ”Royal” KNIGHTS of the “air”.
